Hi all,
Firstly, a big Thanks for the birthday wishes this week!
2 Questions, for those with the time:
1. What makes *you* like or love a piece of art by me? (Enough to favorite, maybe?)
I'm fascinated by how unexpectedly some of my artwork can be received by different audiences (in dA, other art communities, "real life", etc.). Some I'd think would be popular get almost no attention, while some of those I don't think will get attention get a lot of it! What are you looking for?
2. Is there something you'd like me to talk about?
I've gotten a variety of inquiries over the years about artistic technique & philosophy, deviantART habits & principles, among other things. Anything in particular pique your interest?
Anyway, that's all for now. Take care; cheers.

Just popping in quickly to say Hi ~
I've only now realized I last posted in....January. Wow. I've been meaning to upload for a long while... As usual, there's an art backlog, and time is as fleeting as it's ever been.
Thanks yet again to StevenSWM (https://www.deviantart.com/stevenswm) for the Core membership. While I haven't had the opportunity to use it as much as I've wanted to, the gesture alone means a lot. Cheers!
Hope all is well.
P.S. Whoa, it looks like dA is really pushing this Eclipse interface...what a revamp!
Birthday 2017 - Preview - What's Next
One more year down—thanks for sharing it with me!
I laugh, looking at my previous birthday entries here and elsewhere. Intuited prophecies were foretold and fulfilled in ways I completely didn't expect, while completely unexpected developments were unknowingly foreshadowed with humorous precision. I will make no predictions this time, other than for an expected artistic direction—and I will admit to feeling rather optimistic about this next year's art path, if things continue at this trajectory. :)
Artistic Highlights:
Artistically, the biggest development this last year was the arrival of the Two-Word Challenge. It's b
Q: How to draw white highlights?
A quick question for anyone who's done this.
Normally I just use a kneaded eraser to create better highlights, but dark graphite or charcoal can leave behind a strong grey. I've tried using white charcoal and white chalk, but somehow they are making everything darker (due to smearing the particles?). Any suggestions? I'm trying to draw things like bright strands of hair.
A Love Note
You won't hear any political talk from me, but I will say this: I love you all.

1. Hehe, well, for me I was always a fan of that story you had going on that surrounded the contest you held 3 years ago. Not because I participated or anything (cough), but because it had your thumbprint on it. I'm a sucker for art with a story, as it will leave me thinking about it for a longer time. Characters and mythos have lots of that. I'm also a sucker for allegory and symbolism, and your story and characters had lots of that.
But in terms of a general theme I like in your artwork in general and that I'd like to see more of would be the "inspired stuff". Quit giving us sketches and WIPs (shakes fist), and whip out the paints, make magic light it up! What's really coming to mind right now is the first deviation of yours I saw that was a sketch of a fountain. I forget the name of it (maybe Fountain of Life?), but it had this symmetry and depth to its design, that even through the rudimentary skill used in the drawing, made it look fantasmagorical. I'd like to see a redux of that drawing.
2. Less talk, more art. ;D
