Son of Adam

Description

This is the part where I lie and say this is a self-portrait. :P Haha.

While looking for anatomy subjects I came across this photo by photographer =vishstudio. I thought it would be a fun piece to further hone my bold stroke realism style.

As to the title, for some reason I kept thinking how much this reminded me of the Biblical Adam. When I look at this photo what I see is Adam's created mastery. I see the brilliance and elegance of the Creator...I see how we are all a part of that original perfection, and how God's thoughtfulness extended throughout the far reaches of time. It's strange, for now even when I look in the mirror, and I have no comparable physique and harbor many blemishes, I see Adam - or rather, I see Adam in me, and me in Adam. A short excerpt from what I wrote of this in a poetic journal, reflecting on my realization: "An intellect I am, I said; a genius of specific knowledge; an artist of Adam’s created ingenuity. I am God’s creation, in body and mind, for when he created Adam, he had me in mind." And this applies to ALL. I believe we can ALL look at or within ourselves and see some loving fingerprint of the divine; a beauty and brilliance of Heavenly origin. If you're down, ridden with blemishes and trials, look to where you came from, and recognize the true beauty and worth of your existence!

M'kay, that's all I'll go on a monologue for now. :P I hope you enjoy the piece. ^_^ Be sure to share any thoughts or recommendations. :)

Oh and yeah, I thought this would be a fun and fitting upload for my 2-year anniversary here, haha.

Cheers!

Something really captivating about this piece and the way you have used the grain. Very nice :-)
